The Kia EV6 is the World’s Latest Supercar in More Ways Than One

What makes a car a supercar? Well, the answer might be obvious: speed, power, acceleration. Your mind will likely wander to big names such as Ferrari or McLaren, but what about Kia? The brand’s latest electric vehicle shocked plenty of motor enthusiasts when it came second in a drag race against some of the world’s fastest supercars. However, the speed of the EV6 is not the only reason this car is ‘super’.

With ultra-fast charging, a battery range that allows for substantial journeys, and, of course, the knowledge that you’re doing your bit to help the planet, there are plenty of reasons why the Kia EV6 is more than just a fast-performance supercar.

A Supercar Needs Supercharging

For an electric car that can beat the likes of a Porsche 911 Targa 4 and Ferrari California T in a drag race, you might suspect a mammoth charge time. This is not the case for the EV6 as the battery life can increase from 10% to 80% with only an 18-minute charge. This will likely be music to the ears of those shopping for an electric vehicle in the Highlands as stats have highlighted a rise in the need for rapid charging in the area, with a 66% increase in the use of rapid charge points between 2018 and 2019.[1] For instance, professionals who may have a meeting they need to get to quickly, or busy parents with children to drive to various activities can rest in the knowledge that they won’t be confronted with long charging times at the time they really need to use their car.

From Inverness to Edinburgh… and Back!

EV range anxiety can be described as the worry that a vehicle will run out of power during a journey where there is no charging point within reach. Findings of a recent survey suggest that this is one of the principal concerns holding potential drivers back from making the move to electric. For adventure seekers, sightseers, and travelling business professionals alike, this is a valid concern. Nobody wants to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with no sign of a vehicle charging point in sight. However, with the latest electric vehicle from Kia, there is no need to worry about battery range. A fully charged Kia EV6 has a battery range of up to 328 miles. To put this into perspective, road miles between Inverness and Edinburgh come to approximately 157.5 miles each way. Therefore, when fully charged, an EV6 will theoretically allow drivers to make a return journey between Inverness and Edinburgh without charging the vehicle.

A Supercar to Save the Planet

Of course, the most obvious benefit of an electric vehicle is the positive impact it will have on the environment. We think this makes the Kia EV6 more than qualified to be a supercar. As the friendly power in motoring, we are committed to the switch to electric. By doing our bit and switching to electric vehicles, we can help reduce the UK’s production of Co2 emissions by 42 million tonnes.  It doesn’t stop there, though. In line with the Scottish Government’s environmental pledge to end the sale of diesel and petrol cars by 2032, every new Kia sold in Europe will be an electric vehicle. While the electrification of the vehicle is a huge step towards reducing Co2 emissions, the entire manufacturing process needs to be considered. This is why Kia has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality in 2045. While only one vehicle, the Kia EV6 is another step in the journey to combat climate change. An Everyday Car with a Supercar’s Power

Of course, the most obvious qualifying factor for a supercar is the speed, power, and acceleration it produces. With the capability of 0 – 62 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 161 miles per hour, the EV6 provides high-class performance stats for an electric vehicle. Don’t just take our word for it though, check out this drag race between the Kia EV6 and some of the world’s most powerful supercars in the video below:

Pretty impressive, right? For a potential family car, business lease, or a city run-around vehicle, the EV6 offers something for everybody with speed and acceleration that compares to the world’s top supercars. And, the best part is, it does not rely on fuel to do any of these which highlights just how powerful the future of electric really is.

With opportunities to lease the car for business, personally finance the vehicle with low APRs, or of course, make an outright purchase, there are plenty of options to get your hands on Kia’s latest electric vehicle.
