All-New Nissan Micra: Now Fully Electric, Fully Affordable
It’s official: Nissan has pulled the covers off the sixth-generation Micra and, trust us, this one’s not here to mess about. Unveiled in May, the All-New Nissan Micra is sharper, sleeker, and for the first time ever, completely electric.
And the best bit? It’s coming in at a starting price that’ll make other small EVs break out in a nervous sweat: £22,995 for the 40kWh Engage model. That’s before the £1,500 government grant.
Big News: The Government’s Chipping In
Confirmed recently, two of Nissan’s flagship electric vehicles – the All-New Nissan Micra and the Nissan ARIYA– now qualify for the UK Government’s newly launched Electric Car Grant.
This shiny new scheme, announced in July 2025, takes money straight off the purchase price of eligible EVs, making electric driving that bit more tempting for UK motorists.
For the Micra, that means prices now start at just £21,495 for the 40kWh Engage model (that’s including the grant). Yes, we’re talking proper EV tech, advanced connectivity, and up to 260 miles of range for the price of a small hatchback with a petrol engine. Here’s what’s on offer with the grant applied to the All-New Nissan Micra:
Grade | 40kWh | 52kWh |
Engage | £21,495 | |
Advanced | £23,495 | £25,495 |
Evolve | £28,365 |
That's a lot of car for the money. And about that range – it’s actually better than Nissan first thought. The 52kWh battery will take you up to 260 miles on a charge (+7 miles from earlier figures), while the 40kWh will go 198 miles (+6 miles). Not too shabby for a city car.
Styled for the City (and the Highlands)
The new Micra hasn’t forgotten its roots. It’s still got that compact, nippy personality, but now with bold, assertive styling – plus a nod to its past with the iconic “gelato scoop” line down the side. Yes, Nissan designed it to look like someone’s run a spoon through ice cream, and now we’re hungry.
Those clean lines aren’t just for show either – they improve aerodynamics, reduce drag, and make your battery work smarter, not harder.
Need a top-up? The 52kWh model can handle 100kW DC rapid charging (80kW for the 40kWh), meaning 15–80% in just 30 minutes. Perfect for a coffee break – or a quick dash into Tesco.
Both versions get a heat pump, battery heating and cooling, and full NissanConnect app control. You can check your charge, preheat the cabin, or even track the car’s location – handy if you’ve “forgotten” where you parked in the Eastgate Centre car park.
With Google Built-in as standard, the Micra’s sat nav will plan charging stops automatically if your route’s longer than your range – and even pre-condition the battery so charging is quicker when you get there.
The spec sheet is packed – from adaptive cruise control and wireless phone charging in the Advance trim, to the full Harman/Kardon® sound system, ProPILOT Assist, and two-tone paint on the Evolve.
